Dyslexia - What can be done

Experience suggest that those with dyslexia, of any age, are able to make progress best when they can achieve the following:

  • Recognition of their own strengths
  • Clarity about their difficulties and problems
  • Identification of strategies to deal with their difficulties
  • Sucessful application of those strategies

With this in mind, the Airedale Dyslexia Service offers programmes of age related specialist advice, 1 to 1 support and private tuition. This can be provided via:

  • Screening to identify dyslexic tendencies, their effects and recommendations for support. This age appropriate for children from 7 to 18 years and for adults
  • Identification of personal and academic strengths and weaknessess
  • Assessment of individual educational and technological support needs
  • Development of progressive strategies to deal with the effects of dyslexia
  • Multi-sensory approaches with individually designed teaching and learning programmes
  • Use of technological support, where appropriate
